Wedding Ceremony
Music & Entertainment
Entertainment for the Prelude
It is common to have more than one performer
or entertainer at the wedding ceremony, as there are a number of
traditional
formalities. The first of these is the Prelude,
when your guests arrive at the ceremony.
Since the music here is designed to be background only, you may want
your entertainment to
take the form of a church organ, piano, acoustic ensemble, band
or choir.
Whatever your ultimate entertainment
decision, remember that you can be as creative as you like, provided
that the music suits the mood and style of the guests arriving, and
the venue setting.
Entertainment for the Processional
The most common style of entertainment for the Processional,
is the traditional church organ. As the bride walks down the aisle,
the sound that emanates from the church organ is unmistakably Wedding
like and grand.
You may choose to hire an organist or keyboard player, but ensure that
they are well versed in Baroque, Classical and Romantic styles of music.
It is also common practice to hire an acoustic ensemble for the Processional,
which is generally a small string trio, quartet, or quintet.
There are a number of orchestral combinations for acoustic ensembles
ranging from soloists to larger groups, but once again be as creative
as you like.
Entertainment for The Commitment
The entertainment you choose for this part of the ceremony is often
an extension of the entertainment used during the Processional.
A church organ or acoustic ensemble is the most common choice, as the
music is only intended to be background only.
As the signing of the legal registries is often tedious for the audience,
the entertainment
should be designed to keep the guests from getting too restless.
Entertainment for The Recessional
This is arguably the greatest moment of the entire Wedding Day, so
the entertainment
you choose should be able to project the grandness of the event.
Since the 1600's, the humble church organ has stamped itself as the
instrument of choice for achieving the grand sound required.
However, since many ceremonies are not held in churches, and the call
for pipe organs in venues has diminished, the alternatives for your
entertainment choices fall to acoustic string, brass, woodwind or even
percussion ensembles (ranging from soloists to larger groups).
You may even choose to uses your wedding
reception duo, trio or band, or even a choir, but the most important
point is to make a bold statement using your entertainment. Make the
music grand!
