Stage & Dance
Floor Requirements
Size definitely matters
There is a range of entertainment
choices and options available for booking at your wedding or next
corporate function,
so you will need to pay careful attention to the varying space allocations
at your preferred venue.
Often,
the band that you are considering will assume that you have checked
the available space allocations, power requirements (240V, 440V), and
safety of the stage area (undercover, protection from high wind etc.).
Whilst it is true that duos and trios
are generally smaller than large "live" bands,
you will still need to look at each entertainment option closely, before
securing your booking.
Where did the dance floor go?
Your dance floor is the least considered, and yet one of the most important
and memorable staging areas for your guests to have fun. Magnet
has performed at many wedding
receptions and corporate functions over the past 7 years where the
following has occurred:
- There is no dance floor at all
- The dance floor is nowhere near the stage
- The dance floor is obscured by chairs and tables
- The dance floor is so small that it may as well not be there
- The dance floor is so highly polished that no-one can dance
- The dance floor moves whenever anyone dances on it
- The stage is so small that the band has to place equipment on the
dance floor
Apart
from the above experiences, you must consider your dance floor area,
and imagine how all your guests would fit (remembering to allow additional
room for guests who like to boogie,
swing, jive, hop etc.)
If you are wanting to have a huge celebration, make sure that your
dance floor and entertainment are synonymous.
In other words, keep your dance floor close to your band
or entertainment, and try to make your dance floor the focal point
of your wedding reception or next corporate function.
Magnet need a minimum Stage Area
Prior to booking Magnet for your wedding
reception entertainment or next corporate function, you may need
to check that there is sufficient space for the band. If you are not
sure, you may need to ask the venue function coordinator.
Magnet require a minimum space of approximately
8' x 6' in order to accommodate the PA, Lighting and Keyboards.

power requirements
All
Magnet equipment is designed to operate on 1Ø phase power (240V).
All leads and plugs are surge protected and regularly tested and tagged
by a qualified electrician in accordance with current safety standards.
Ensure that there is adequate power to the stage area,
and at least 2 power outlets, preferably on separate circuits (fuses),
or in a twin power outlet.
dance floor Area
The dance
floor should be adequate to handle 50 - 100 people at any one time.
Magnet suggest a minimum size of approximately 8' x 24', and to ensure
that the dance floor is directly ahead of the stage area.
